To champion sustainability on a global scale, SEE Institute recently hosted its inaugural SEE Global Sustainability Summit at its state-of-the-art net-zero emissions building, setting a new benchmark for environmental consciousness in the region. The event welcomed over 500 distinguished guests including policy makers, industry experts, academics, and researchers from across the globe.
Located in the heart of the Sustainable City, the summit served as a nexus for thought leaders to converge, exchange ideas, and pave the way for a more sustainable future. With a mission to advance sustainability practices throughout the region, the summit showcased the expertise of the UAE’s sustainable cities’ founders, highlighting their invaluable insights and best practices.
At the core of the summit’s agenda was the urgent call to transition towards a circular economy, a model that emphasizes resource efficiency, waste reduction, and renewable energy utilization. With discussions revolving around achieving net zero emissions. Importantly, two global alliances were signed on net zero future cities and another on sustainability education to lead the path and pushing the boundaries of sustainability.
Ensuring the availability of green technologies is paramount to empowering emerging markets to embrace sustainable practices and this event served as a catalyst for change, focusing on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, as well as circular economy topics and challenges we are currently facing and addressing. Attendees were treated to a diverse array of activities including 52 research paper presentations selected from around 86 papers received from well renowned researchers and industry practitioners around the globe, 20 best startup pitches selected from around 400 applications received, industry led panel discussions, masterclasses, and insightful presentations from global Industry leaders in sustainability.
