ABU DHABI, 13th January, 2026 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, today attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC. Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an annual global platform that brings together leaders, policymakers and experts to promote practical solutions for sustainable development in the UAE and around the world.
The opening ceremony was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; His Highness Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Martyrs’ Affairs; and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs.
On this occasion, H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the Emirates, as well as numerous sheikhs, ministers, senior officials, heads of state and government representatives, as well as sustainability experts, specialists and guests from around the world were also present.
During the event, His Excellency the President welcomed participants to Abu Dhabi and emphasized that Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week highlights the UAE’s role as a platform for dialogue and action, bringing together governments, businesses and investors to turn shared goals into practical results.
He also highlighted the rapid development of modern technologies and the digital economy and emphasized that innovation, especially artificial intelligence, plays a key role in improving efficiency, increasing resilience, and promoting inclusive economic growth.
The opening ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and featured a film highlighting the importance of integration between systems and sectors to build a sustainable future.
His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, delivered the keynote address, in which he welcomed the distinguished Sheikhs, Heads of State, Ministers and guests of the Summit and expressed gratitude for the Emirati leadership’s continued support for clean energy and sustainable development.
Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the UAE’s pragmatic and results-based development approach and said that international cooperation and leadership in energy, industry and advanced technology are central to the country’s long-term vision.

Held under the theme of ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go’, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 brings together stakeholders from the energy, finance, food, water and environmental sectors to promote integrated solutions that strengthen resilience and accelerate impacts across interconnected systems.
This year’s program focuses on emerging priorities such as AI-powered energy systems, climate finance, and innovations that promote food and water security. By bringing together leaders and experts in these fields, ADSW 2026 aims to establish a global model for deepening sectoral collaboration and delivering tangible results.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week will run until January 15. The programme includes the IRENA Assembly (January 11-12), the ADSW Summit (January 13-14), and forums and exhibitions held throughout the week, including the ADSW Dialogues, the World Future Energy Summit, the Youth for Sustainability (Y4S) Forum (January 13-15), the annual Vice President Forum and the Global South Utilities Forum (January 14), the Green Hydrogen Summit, the Zayed Sustainability Prize Investor Connect, the Blue Forum, and the Global Climate Finance Centre Annual Meeting (January 15).
